| Sometimes you have a sheep born that you immediately know is special. In Open Range’s case, it was a set of twins. Man, were they fun to watch grow. Eventually we decided that Open Range was the one we were keeping and Boatman Club Lambs in Oregon added his twin to their program. Open Range’s mom is a legend around here. She was Champion Commercial Ewe at Arkansas State Fair as a lamb, produced Shameless, Open Range, Boatman’s “Tin Cup” as well as several keeper daughters, one of which dammed “Pamela”, Paige Pence’s Reserve Commercial Ewe at the Ohio Livestock Expo. As Matt Kennedy said when he saw this guy, you don’t see many anymore that are good looking and have muscle. That describes this one perfectly. He’s a wild fronted, crazy shallow, great structured one with a huge hip and lots of shape. He’s bred quite a few this fall. |
